Unwanted Chin Hair - What to Do About It

By

Introduction

Both men and women suffer from hair they don't like, but in the case of women, unwanted chin hair is an extremely common problem.

Dark hairs can appear on the chin in women for a number of reasons. However, in order to make sure it's not a symptom of an underlying health problem you should seek medical advice.

If you know your hair isn't a sign of anything more serious and you want to remove it, then there are a number of options for you.

Some methods are permanent - like electrolysis and laser hair removal - whereas others are only temporary. Each method has it's own pros and cons, so here is a quick guide to what you can do about your hair.

Permanent Methods

Electrolysis

This is one example of permanent hair removal and it needs to be performed by a professional at a beauty clinic.

This treatment can understandably be quite expensive, but this all depends on how much hair you need to have removed. It can cost end up costing hundreds per hour, though it can also be around $25 per hour. Do some research into different clinics for more information.

Laser Hair Removal

This is a popular option and can work out cheaper than electrolysis. Again, you will need to go to a qualified expert in order to have this treatment. Laser removal is not suitable for everyone, and it depends on your skin colour and hair colour. It can take around a couple of minutes and last a long time - in many cases seeing permanent results.

Short-Term Options

Apart from the permanent methods above you can also try this cheaper, short-term methods:

Tweezing: Use a tweezer to pluck the unwanted chin hair and get rid of it. This will need to be repeated often but lasts a couple of weeks.

Waxing: Again this lasts a few weeks, and is cheap though it can be painful. There are a number of home waxing kits available in stores - it involves wrenching the hair from the skin.

Shaving: Some women choose to shave their chin hair. This is probably the least effective method as the hair grows back extremely quickly since the follicle is not removed.

Conclusion

If you have unwanted chin hair that you need to remove, then the method you choose will depend upon the pain involved, how much time you have and how much you have to spend.

In many cases the cost of a permanent method can be worth it over time, but tweezing regularly could still be a good option for you.
